Pre-Kindergarten Application Page
Dear Prospective Pre-K Parent,
Thank you for your interest in the Beacon City School District's Pre-Kindergarten Program. To expedite the process, all information must be filled-in with required documentation submitted before your completed application can be accepted, logged-in, and assigned a number.
The 2007-2008 Beacon Pre-Kindergarten Program is a half-day grant funded program. Please understand that program will only operate if the Beacon School District continues to receive Pre-Kindergarten grant-funding from New York State. We expect the program to continue, however, notification of acceptance is only a reservation until final funding approval is received from the state (usually in August). If funding for the 2007-2008 school year is approved, it is expected that the program will continue to be housed at J.V. Forrestal Elementary School.
While we welcome your application, please understand that we prioritize student placements on the basis of demonstrated economic need first, followed by the order in which we receive your application. Your understanding of these requirements is sincerely appreciated.
Enclosed with the application packet you will find a transportation request form. Please note that transportation is only available to students whose families meet income eligibility guidelines. Busing is quite limited and due to funding restrictions may be further reduced (or even eliminated) before the start of the next school year. It’s important to understand that the Beacon Pre-K program is completely grant funded and can only continue to operate as long as it remains self-sufficient and does not require district funding. As a result, bus transportation is extremely limited and only available (without exception) to qualifying families based on the income eligibility criteria established by the Experimental Pre-K grant. Only income eligible families who have children in need of transportation five days a week to and from consistent addresses are eligible for transportation. It is also important to understand that completing this form does not mean that your child will receive busing and it is the responsibility of each family to provide for (and ensure) regular timely student attendance as a required condition for program acceptance and continued participation.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at 838-6900 ext 5601 should you have any questions or concerns about the Beacon Pre-Kindergarten Program.
Sincerely,
Steven Borrello
Pre-K Program Director
