HTTP://WWW.MUSICISREVOLUTION.ORG/ - The Music Is Revolution Foundation Grants Program Public school teachers of children in grades K-12 may apply for funding. Students and/or parents may participate in the writing of the application. The Music Is Revolution Foundation administers a mini-grant program for Music Is Revolution activities designed by teachers to implement, support, and/or improve their ability to provide quality music education for their students. Mini-grants up to $500 are available to teachers for music education activities of all types. Only projects that clearly contain a music education focus - that is, projects based on the concept of music education, through musical experiences, initiating students into a sense of their social, academic, and cultural identity, and humanizing them through the emotional, cognitive, and/or physical impact of music will be considered. Applicants are encouraged to include activities that expose students to genres and styles of music not likely to be experienced as a part of their normal daily lives, and to plan the project with input from students, parents, and school administrators, so that the project supports the imaginations of the students while maintaining relevance to the curriculum already in place. Funds may be used for supplies, materials, equipment, transportation for a field trip, and/or to bring a performer or musical group to the school. Funds may not be used to pay for personnel, to replace state or local school funds, or for celebration food and drinks. On-going deadlines.
Teaching the Hudson Valley - email: info@teachingthehudsonvalley.org
THV is pleased to introduce Explore Awards -- a new grant program designed to respond to anticipated cuts in school budgets. To help ensure that kids and teachers get out and about during the Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial, THV has changed its grant-making for 2009-10.
K-12 educators in public or private schools and after-school or summer programs located in the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area may apply.
The Heritage Area includes Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Ulster, and Westchester counties.
Because Explore Awards will be smaller than THV's traditional curriculum development grants, we will give many more of them. Awards are intended mainly to cover transportation and admissions.
Applications will be reviewed and acted on in the order they are received.
While applicants will need to make connections between the trip and their core curriculum or program, lesson plans and activities are not required. Applicants should plan to attend THV's summer institute, this year, in 2010, or both.
Please visit www.TeachingtheHudsonValley.org and submit your application today!
